Overview

The Hamburger Orgelsommer 2025 ran for eight weeks from early July to early September. Approximately 50 concerts in the five main churches and St. Marien-Dom. Wednesday concerts in the Michel formed the backbone, with international soloists and the unique "four organs in one space" format making the organ summer, as every year, a fixed date in Hamburg's cultural calendar.

The 2025 edition followed the same format as planned for 2026: Wednesday evening concerts in the main church St. Michaelis, supplemented by dates in the other main churches and St. Marien-Dom. A total of about 50 concerts spread over the eight summer weeks.

The international appeal of the festival is evident in the soloists who come to the Michel every year — organists from Great Britain, the USA, Spain, Austria, and Germany take turns at the console. The setup of four organs in the Michel attracts specific repertoire: works written for several spatially separated sound bodies or specially arranged for this configuration.
