Overview
In 2025, HIQFF once again drew a broad film community to Hamburg's cinemas with around 15,500 visitors. Six days of international queer cinema, feature films, documentaries, short films, and festival parties – organized by Querbild e.V., the organizer of Germany's oldest and largest LGBTQIA+ film festival.
The 2025 edition continued the tradition upheld since 1989. The program included competition feature films, documentaries, short film programs, and several special sections. Film talks, Q&As with filmmakers, and festival parties connected cinema and the queer community.
The venues once again included the established Hamburg art-house cinemas and Kampnagel as a cultural hub. Advance ticket sales, as in previous years, were limited in time and well-attended; many screenings were sold out.
