Overview

In 2025, the Papitz local history association again kept the Hahnrupfen tradition alive. From the festive parade through the village to the crowning of the Harvest King at the sports field, the festival once again marked its place in the Sorbian harvest calendar of Lower Lusatia. With the award for hosting the Superkokot in 2026, Papitz also received special recognition from the Sorbian community landscape.

The 2025 Hahnrupfen in Papitz took place again at the sports field, bringing together riders, harvest kings, and villagers from the greater Kolkwitz municipality and neighboring communities. With the prospect of hosting the Superkokot in 2026 – the grand meeting of the harvest kings from Lower Lusatian villages – Papitz further established itself as one of the key locations for Sorbian harvest customs in the Spree-Neiße district. In 2025, the local history association and the municipality of Kolkwitz were already working on the organizational preparations for the upcoming double season of 2026, featuring both Hahnrupfen and Superkokot.
