Overview
The 52nd GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf 2025 once again gathered around 15,000 runners from over 20 nations on the Rennsteig in the Thuringian Forest. The tradition of the 'most beautiful finish line in the world' in Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig — with Thuringian dumplings and dark beer — once again confirmed its cult status in the international running scene.
As every year, the 2025 edition offered all six distances: Supermarathon, Marathon, Half Marathon, Hiking distances, and JuniorCross. The scenic conditions — typical May weather in the Thuringian Forest, often changeable, sometimes snow at higher altitudes — tested endurance and preparation. The event once again confirmed its reputation as Europe's largest cross-country run and one of Germany's most scenic major trail races.
