Overview

The fifth edition of the Gutes Klima Festival took place in July 2025 at Zeche Carl in Essen. Six hours of climate and sustainability programming with over 100 initiatives, three thematic worlds, food stalls, workshops, and live music. The format definitively established itself as the most important climate event of the Essen summer.

In 2025, the Gutes Klima Festival took place for the fifth time at Zeche Carl in Essen-Altenessen. The proven division into Food & Drinks, Young Power, and Green Business Campus once again characterized the festival day. Over 100 initiatives, associations, and organizations from the Ruhr region and all of NRW presented their climate and sustainability projects.

Workshops on upcycling, repair cafés, talks on the energy transition and urban agriculture, live music, and street theatre filled the six hours of program time. The festival confirmed its role as a central meeting point for the Essen climate community and immediately announced the 2026 edition with a focus on young people under 25.
