Overview

The Grußschinner Schissn 2025 took place from July 18 to 27 — ten days of marksmen's festival and summer fair on the Großschönau festival grounds. The opening cannon shot on Friday at 5 p.m., beer tapping, the shuttle race, the king's proclamation, and the musical fireworks display were, as every year, among the highlights. The tradition dating back to 1844 continued with great participation from the Marksmen's Association, the fire department, and the community.

Schissn 2025

From July 18 to 27, 2025, the Grußschinner Schissn took place. As in previous years, the Marksmen's Association opened the festival on Friday with a cannon shot and a musical introduction by the Volunteer Fire Department. The beer tapping was performed by the deputy mayor in the festival tent.

Over ten days, the festival attracted thousands of visitors from Großschönau, Zittau, Görlitz, and neighboring Czech Republic. The shuttle race on the Lausur, the king's proclamation, and the musical fireworks display at the end of the festival also marked this edition. The summer fair has been the main social event of the damask and terrycloth village since 1844 — and since its re-establishment in 1993.
