Edition 2025 — Grünau Christmas Market
Already in 2025, the Grünau Christmas Market took place, as in previous years, on the 1st Sunday of Advent in front of the Friedenskirche. Organized by the citizens' association 'Zukunft in Grünau e.V.', it presented itself in its now familiar format: small, family-friendly, with choirs, mulled wine, a fairy tale hut for children, and a campfire with singing in the evening.
The 2025 edition continued the series documented since 2021. Again at Don-Ugoletti-Platz, again on the 1st Sunday of Advent, again with the three participating choirs. The market remained true to its format: no expansion, no commercial stalls, but a consistently volunteer-run neighbourhood festival.
This makes the Grünau Christmas Market one of the few Berlin Advent markets that deliberately keep their character small over the years – in contrast to the large tourist crowds in Mitte and Charlottenburg. In the state of Berlin and the Treptow-Köpenick borough, it is considered a model example of lived local tradition.
