Overview

The Greifswald City Festival 2025 took place on the last weekend of August. During the Caspar David Friedrich Anniversary Decade, the fairytale forest, romantic performances, concerts in the city churches, and the special Friedrich exhibition at the Pomeranian State Museum attracted thousands of visitors to the Hanseatic city. Free admission everywhere.

The 2025 edition was once again dedicated to German Romanticism and the Friedrich commemoration. On the Historic Market Square, the city built a fairytale forest with musicians, storytellers, and theatre troupes. On the forecourt of the Pomeranian State Museum, the theme "Healing and Spirituality" was represented with a relaxation tent, massages, and an information stand from the Greifswald University Medical Center on historical and modern healing practices.

The Pomeranian State Museum was open both days from 10 am to 6 pm with the special exhibition "Caspar David Friedrich. The Hidden Life of the Paintings" and hourly guided tours at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm. Admission was free at all city center venues.
