Overview
In 2025, the pilgrimage to Altenburg Castle on Good Friday again attracted around 3,000 faithful. At dawn, the procession led in prayer from the Obere Pfarre up to Altenburg Castle and on to the church of St. Getreu – true to the over hundred-year-old Bamberg tradition.
The Good Friday Procession 2025 took place on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. As every year, the procession departed at 5 AM from the Obere Pfarrkirche and led in prayer up to Altenburg Castle and on to the church of St. Getreu. With around 3,000 participants, the great significance of this Good Friday pilgrimage for the faithful in the Archdiocese of Bamberg was once again confirmed.
