Overview

The Gengenbach Wine and City Festival 2025 once again attracted thousands of visitors to the medieval old town of Ortenau on the third weekend of September. Highlights included the crowning of the new Wine Princess on Saturday evening in the market square, Ortenau wines at the stalls of Gengenbach vintners, and musical entertainment by regional bands and music associations.

A Festival Weekend of Ortenau Wine Culture

The Wine and City Festival 2025 continued the centuries-old tradition of Gengenbach's autumn wine season. Against the backdrop of the historic town hall and the cobblestone main street, local wineries presented their Pinot Noir, Klingelberger, and Gewürztraminer from the current harvest. The highlight on Saturday evening—the festive crowning of the new Wine Princess—drew thousands of onlookers from all over Ortenau to the market square, as it does every year.

On Sunday, the traditional "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) with regional music associations followed, preceding the Sunday opening for shopping in the boutiques and chocolatiers of the old town. Overall, the festival once again attracted tens of thousands of visitors and solidified Gengenbach's reputation as one of the most beautiful destinations for Baden wine culture on the edge of the Black Forest.
