Overview

The 2025 edition of the Cologne Marathon brought two new course records: Barnaba Kipkoech won the men's marathon in 2:06:54, and Esther Pfeiffer set a new half-marathon course record, breaking a 17-year-old mark from 2008. Tens of thousands of spectators lined the route from Ottoplatz via Rheinauhafen to the finish at the Cathedral.

In October 2025, the event took place on the same course as in 2026, starting at Ottoplatz and finishing at Komödienstraße. A total of over 25,000 participants started in the marathon, half-marathon, and relays. The event benefited from the traditionally mild Cologne autumn weather and once again underscored the Generali Cologne Marathon's status as the second-largest marathon in North Rhine-Westphalia by participation.
