Edition 2025 — Animal Shelter Summer Festival
In 2025, the Animal Welfare Association for Gelsenkirchen and Surrounding Areas e.V. 1880 again invited visitors to the summer festival on the animal shelter premises at Willy-Brandt-Allee. Live music, barbecue stand, raffle, stands of external exhibitors, and animal shelter tours characterized the day. Proceeds for the benefit of the animals — as every year, an important contribution to financing the association's work.
2025 Summer Festival
The 2025 summer festival followed the proven format: a Sunday in late spring, seven hours of program on the animal shelter premises. Hundreds of animal lovers from Gelsenkirchen and the surrounding area visited the association, brought in-kind and monetary donations, and learned about the care work during guided tours.
As every year, the animals in the shelter benefited from the proceeds — food costs, veterinary bills, adoption logistics, and minor shelter renovations are co-financed by the festival income. The Animal Welfare Association, founded in 1880, is one of the oldest associations of its kind in Germany.
