Overview
Between 2018 and the revival in 2026, GAUDIUM did not take place regularly. The medieval castle festival was on hiatus for financial reasons — a regular edition in 2025 was not held. Only the cooperation between Förderverein Schloss Horst and the event agency Sündenfrei enabled the comeback in June 2026 with a jousting tournament, minstrels, and a medieval market in the Renaissance courtyard of the castle.
Hiatus Period 2018–2026
GAUDIUM was last held in 2018 and then ceased operations for financial reasons. There was no regular edition in 2025. With the comeback in 2026 under Förderverein Schloss Horst and Sündenfrei, the festival returns to the Renaissance setting.
