Overview

The 19th edition of the Fünf Seen Filmfestival in September 2025 attracted around 17,500 visitors to the Breitwand cinemas in Gauting, Starnberg, and Seefeld, as well as to other venues around the five lakes, according to the organizers. The core program consisted of feature film, documentary, and short film competitions, complemented by numerous retrospectives and film discussions with filmmakers present. The festival confirmed its reputation as a regionally anchored auteur and audience festival beyond major German industry events.

2025 Season in Review

According to the organizers, the Fünf Seen Filmfestival recorded approximately 17,500 visitors in 2025 – a new record for the festival. Feature films, documentaries, and short films were screened in the three Breitwand cinemas as well as at open-air locations in the Fünfseenland.

As in previous years, directors, producers, and actors personally presented their films in audience discussions. The festival thus reaffirmed its reputation as a regionally rooted auteur and audience festival beyond the major German industry events.
