Overview
The previous edition of FREISTIL_FESTIVAL took place in September 2024 at the Völklinger Hütte. As a biennale, the festival runs every two years — the 2024 edition laid the foundation for the significantly expanded 2026 edition.
FREISTIL_FESTIVAL is conceived as a biennale; therefore, there is no regular edition in 2025. The 2024 edition showcased contemporary theatre, dance, and performance from the independent scene of Saarland and the Greater Region within the halls of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
