Overview

2025 was a FRATZ-free inter-year in the festival's biennial rhythm: following the 7th edition in 2024 with the FRATZ Research Labs for Indian artists, Theater o.N. used the year for the selection phase from 145 applications, for artistic research, and for preparing the 8th edition in October 2026. The India Research Labs from 2024 were further developed artistically during this phase.

As FRATZ International takes place every two years, 2025 was a classic inter-year: after the well-attended 7th edition in 2024, which focused centrally on India (FRATZ Research Labs), Theater o.N. prepared the 8th edition. A selection of five productions was made from 145 international applications, and research was conducted on two Indian productions from the labs, which will be shown as Neer and Build in 2026.

Concurrently, Theater o.N. maintained its regular operations at Kollwitzstraße 53 in Prenzlauer Berg. The biennial rhythm allows FRATZ to bring international productions to Berlin every two years with great curatorial care — the 2025 development phase laid the groundwork for the 2026 edition.
