Edition 2025 — Forest Winterlights
The 2025/2026 winter edition of Forest – Winterlights by Dark Matter ran from November 7, 2025, to February 15, 2026, in the Lichtenberg transformer hall. Over 600 suspended fir trees, more than 250,000 LEDs, and a 45-minute light forest loop by Christopher Bauder formed the centerpiece. For the first time, a 400 m² real ice rink was integrated. It was open Wednesday and Thursday 2 PM–10 PM, Friday 12 PM–11 PM, Saturday 11 AM–11 PM, and Sunday 11 AM–10 PM; admission started at €12 (concessions €10, children €7).
The 2025/2026 season brought two significant innovations: Firstly, Christopher Bauder's light installation was further developed and enhanced with choreography elements by sound designer Chris Kuijten. Secondly, a 400 m² real ice rink was added for the first time, expanding the experience from a purely contemplative walk to an active winter element. Forest – Winterlights solidified its position as a fixture in Berlin's winter calendar this season, far beyond the traditional Christmas market format.
