Overview

The 2025 Forest Explorer Day took place during the Schleswig-Holstein autumn holidays at the Michael Otto Institute in Bergenhusen — children aged 6 to 12 explored the forest for three hours with magnifying glasses and identification keys. Format and price stable for years: 10 EUR per child, mandatory registration, small groups.

A Series with Tradition

The Forest Explorer Day is part of a series of themed explorer days offered by the Michael Otto Institute throughout the year — in addition to Water and Bird Explorer Days. In 2025, the date was, as usual, during the autumn holidays, a period when the forest provides particularly rich learning material during its transition.

Proven Concept

The event followed the established format: a three-hour guided exploration in small groups, a snack break with joint review, and children being handed over to parents at 5 PM.

Programme

Schedule identical to previous years: Welcome, distribution of explorer kits, guided exploration of the adjacent forest area, review at the institute, pick-up.
