Overview

In 2025, the Unterrodach 1864 Raft Association again invited to the Flößerkirchweih on the first Sunday after August 1st. Demonstration rafts, festive church service, and Wiedendrehen demonstration honored the UNESCO World Heritage tradition of Frankenwald rafting.

The 2025 Flößerkirchweih in Unterrodach followed the annual tradition: festive church service in St. Michael's Church, demonstration raft with a historic raft on the Rodach from the Angerwehr to the village center, raft christening, and Wiedendrehen demonstration. The festival program with catering, beer, bratwurst, and cake brought together the village community and visitors from all over the Frankenwald.

Since rafting was added to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022, the event has gained supra-regional interest — many guests now come specifically to Unterrodach to experience this historical practice live. The Raft Museum at Kirchplatz 8, open from April to October, serves as the year-round counterpart to the seasonal festival.
