Overview

The 42nd edition of Filmfest München took place from June 27 to July 6, 2025. Around 200 films from around the world were shown on 15 screens, including numerous world and European premieres. The festival once again attracted around 65,000 visitors to the Bavarian capital.

In 2025, the 42nd Filmfest München presented a dense program of international auteur films, new German cinema, and new television productions. The CineMerit Awards honored outstanding filmmakers, and the premieres of new German series attracted particular attention to the big screen section.

Open-air screenings, film talks with directors, and the annually well-attended Industry Days once again made the festival in 2025 a meeting point for audiences, industry professionals, and critics. Several projects supported by MFG were featured in the competition sections.
