Overview

The 37th edition of Filmfest Dresden took place in April 2025. With three competitions for international, German, and Central German short films, a strong focus on animated films, and the Junior program for schools, the festival remained one of the central platforms for European short filmmaking.

37th Edition 2025

In April 2025, filmmakers and cinephiles gathered for the 37th edition of Filmfest Dresden. For six days, selected films from the approximately 3,000 submissions were screened in several Dresden cinemas — live-action shorts, animated films, documentary miniatures, and experimental works.

As every year, the festival management awarded the Golden and Silver Riders in the various competitions, the children's program with the Golden Ponies attracted school classes to the screenings, and industry events connected the professionals.
