Overview

In 2025, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern also visited Schwerin. Chamber music, Baroque, and orchestral programs resonated in the Cathedral and other locations in the state capital throughout the festival summer — part of one of Europe's largest classical music festivals.

Every summer since 1990, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has brought classical music to special locations in the state. In 2025, Schwerin was again one of the stops of the decentralized festival. Schwerin Cathedral — one of Northern Germany's most significant brick Gothic churches — provided the setting for chamber music and sacred programs with its acoustics, and the festival also utilized other locations in and around the state capital. Embedded in a festival summer with numerous events at venues throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Schwerin concerts offered visitors to the city an opportunity to experience high-caliber classical music.
