Edition 2025 — Fasnachtsmarkt Mannheim
The 2025 Fasnachtsmarkt Mannheim ran in late February / early March 2025 at the Wasserturm and Friedrichsplatz. Six festive days with around 60 attractions, opening on Schmotziger Donnerstag, small parade on Saturday, street Fasnacht on Shrove Tuesday with five music stages. One of the most important Fasnacht festivals in southern Germany and the central carnival date in the Kurpfalz.
The tried-and-tested Mannheim carnival format
The 2025 edition of the Fasnachtsmarkt Mannheim further consolidated the established format. Mannheim's Fasnacht is characterised by its urban flavour and strong anchoring as a town festival — unlike the Rhenish carnival strongholds, whose format is more strongly shaped by carnival clubs.
The positive response and the continuity of organisation by the City of Mannheim secure the Fasnachtsmarkt's central position in southern German carnival. The 2026 edition follows the same dramaturgy — with Mayor Thorsten Riehle as the opening act on Schmotziger Donnerstag.
