Fantasy Filmfest Hamburg

The 2025 edition continued the tour route of previous years: seven cities, each with a one-week run, each at a central cinema address. In Hamburg, the festival took place at the Savoy Filmtheater on Steindamm — the only big-city cinema where the genre program truly works.

Those who attend the festival know what to expect: several films daily, a dedicated audience, late screenings that run into the early morning hours. Genre cinema thrives here — horror as a serious art form, thriller as emotional realism, science fiction as philosophical speculation. The Fantasy Filmfest remains a unique format in the German festival landscape.
