Overview

The 39th edition of the Fantasy Filmfest took place in seven German cities in 2025. The Berlin festival week was held, as always, at the Zoo Palast on Hardenbergstraße in Charlottenburg. Around 40 feature films and 10 short films from the genres of horror, thriller, science fiction, mystery, fantasy, and crime were screened, many as German premieres. Single tickets from approx. €14, festival passes with access to all screenings.

The 39th edition of the Fantasy Filmfest 2025 continued the established tour structure of Germany's most important genre film festival. In September, the festival spent a week in Berlin at the Zoo Palast, followed by Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Nuremberg, and Stuttgart.

As in previous years, the program offered around 40 feature films and 10 short films from the genres of horror, thriller, science fiction, mystery, fantasy, and crime. Many films had their German premiere during the festival; selected screenings were accompanied by Q&As with the directors.

Rosebud Entertainment remained the organizer, having produced the festival since the 1990s. With this edition, the Fantasy Filmfest 2025 confirmed its position as "Germany's largest genre film festival" – and laid the groundwork for the major 40th-anniversary celebration in September 2026.
