Overview

The Family Kite Festival 2025 at Altmühlsee took place on Sunday, October 26, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Schlungenhof lake center. Hundreds of families from the Franconian Lake District, Nuremberg, Ansbach, and the wider region came to fly their own kites or watch the demonstrations by Southern German kite clubs. With good wind and sunny autumn weather, it was a colorful sky over the Altmühlsee.

The 2025 edition benefited from favorable weather conditions: constant west wind, clear visibility, and mild October temperatures. The kite clubs showcased particularly impressive animal and stunt kite formations over the lawns of the lake center. Craft stations for children, workshops for beginners, and family-friendly catering made the day complete.

The Kite Festival at Altmühlsee reaffirms its place year after year as one of the most attractive family events of the Bavarian late autumn — free admission, accessible, with the enduring charm of classic kite flying on the lakeshore.
