Overview

The 23rd ExtraSchicht 2025 once again brought tens of thousands of visitors to the industrial culture sites of the Ruhr area. In Recklinghausen, several venues were featured, and the format established itself as a summer highlight of industrial culture tourism in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region.

The 2025 edition once again confirmed the success of ExtraSchicht as a defining industrial culture event in Europe. Across all participating locations, visitors experienced a night full of concerts, performances, light, and sound installations — industrial history as a vibrant backdrop, not a museum standstill. Ruhr Tourismus GmbH reported high satisfaction.
