Overview
The 21st ExtraSchicht 2025 connected the entire Ruhr area for a night of industrial culture. In Gelsenkirchen, Nordsternpark with its galleries, the Nordsternturm panoramic terrace, and the laser pyrotechnics show in the amphitheater attracted thousands of visitors. With the Ruhr Area Ticket, industrial culture fans commuted between 50 venues across the region.
ExtraSchicht 2025 once again confirmed its status as Europe's largest industrial culture festival. In Gelsenkirchen, Nordsternpark was a central venue — galleries of the former colliery, light installations, concerts, and the spectacular show in the amphitheater.
Ruhr Tourismus GmbH drew consistently positive conclusions and announced the continuation in 2026 with an expanded program: With Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche and Bochumer Straße, new locations will be added to the Gelsenkirchen offerings.
