About European Youth Sports Fest

The European Youth Sports Festival in Bitburg is one of the most traditional international youth sports gatherings in the Eifel region. From May 8th to 10th, 2026, in its 56th edition, young athletes from Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands will compete in the disciplines of basketball, football, athletics, swimming, and volleyball. The city of Bitburg is once again the host in 2026 – at the closing ceremony on Sunday, May 10th, the flag will traditionally be handed over to the next host city, which in 2026 will be Cranendonck in the Netherlands. Fairness, friendship, and athletic performance have been the guiding principles of the festival since its inception.

The European Youth Sports Festival Bitburg is one of the oldest and most renowned international youth sports events in the Greater Region of Eifel-Luxembourg-Belgium-Netherlands. It has been held annually in rotating host cities since 1970 – in Bitburg, the 56th edition of the festival in 2026 is a key event in the city's sports calendar.

Participating Nations

Traditionally, teams from Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands participate in the Youth Sports Festival. The participating cities and clubs send their youth teams for a weekend of sporting encounters, cultural exchange, and fostering friendships.
