Overview

The 2025 edition of the Elbjazz Festival took place over a weekend in June 2025 at the usual Blohm+Voss shipyard grounds. The festival series – one of the most established German jazz open-air events – continued its mix of international headliners, British and North American avant-garde, and big band programmes developed over the years, and established the Elbphilharmonie Special as a unique venue.

In 2025, the Elbjazz Festival continued its curatorial direction: a strong international headliner lineup, complemented by the contemporary British nu-jazz scene and North American soul and blues acts. The Blohm+Voss shipyard – with the shipbuilding hall, the Am Helgen stage, and several smaller spots – once again confirmed its status as one of Germany's most distinctive festival settings.

The Elbphilharmonie special venue on the opposite side of the Elbe was again part of the programme in 2025 – with one or two curated solo concerts in the Grand Hall. Arrival by harbour ferry and the transition between the shipyard, the water, and the concert hall remained the hallmark of the festival in the state of Hamburg.
