The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Celebration Flomersheim was initiated several decades ago by the Protestant and Catholic parishes of the district and has since established itself as a central annual format for ecumenical cooperation. It complements the respective Thanksgiving services of the denominations with a joint highlight.
Liturgical Framework
The ecumenical Thanksgiving service is celebrated alternately in the Protestant and Catholic churches of Flomersheim and is jointly led by both pastors. The church choirs, the cantata choir, the brass choir, and occasionally youth or children's groups from both congregations participate.
Harvest Gifts
Harvest gifts are displayed in front of the altar: bread, wine, grapes, fruit, vegetables, potatoes, eggs, and occasionally field products from surrounding agricultural businesses. After the service, the gifts are passed on to the Frankenthal Tafel and other social institutions in the city.
Social Part
Following the service, the respective host parish invites guests to a social gathering in the parish garden or community hall. Refreshments are served with coffee, homemade cake, and small savory contributions from the women's association and women's fellowship.
