Overview
The Duisburg Matjesfest 2025 took place, as every year, in Duisburg city centre. For four days, Königstraße and Sonnenwall transformed into a maritime stage with live music, DJ sets, comedy, and maritime bingo. Over 100,000 Matjes fillets were consumed – a figure that continues to make the festival one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Organised by Duisburg Kontor GmbH.
The 2025 edition once again underscored the Matjesfest's status as a major culinary event in Germany. With over a hundred food stations, several stages, and a consistently maritime programme, the festival once again attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Duisburg city centre. The combination of the classic Matjes roll, freshly tapped Pils, and maritime music has hit the mark with the public for 30 years.
