2025 — No Major Anniversary Festival

In 2025, Groß Kölzig did not host a major round-anniversary village festival – the residents celebrated the 679th anniversary of its first mention in smaller club formats. The Sportlerheim, the annual summer club festival, and events organized by the fire department covered the village's festive calendar.

The grand village anniversary, celebrated on a larger scale every few years, will take place in 2026 for the 680th anniversary. Such "round" anniversaries traditionally provide the occasion in the region for multi-day festivities with a parade, a grand dance, and a festival service – formats that a village like Groß Kölzig (around 800 inhabitants) only manages about every 5-10 years.

Those visiting the Niederlausitz in 2025 could instead find many other summer festivals in neighboring villages like Döbern, Tschernitz, or Bohsdorf – the region is rich in traditional village festivals and club evenings, mostly held during the summer months.
