Overview

The Donaueschingen Music Days 2025 took place in October 2025 in Donaueschingen. The world's oldest festival for New Music (founded in 1921) once again gathered the leading ensembles and composers of contemporary music: SWR Symphony Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Intercontemporain. World premieres, sound installations, workshops, and the Next Generation program characterized the festival.

The 2025 edition of the Donaueschingen Music Days took place in October 2025 in Donaueschingen. As for over a century, the festival brought together the most important figures in contemporary music from around the world: the SWR Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart as the resident orchestra, Klangforum Wien from Austria, Ensemble Intercontemporain from Paris, and the SWR Experimentalstudio. Over four festival days, world premieres, sound installations, discussion formats, workshops, and lectures were spread across the Donauhallen, Donaueschingen Castle, the parish church, and other venues in the small town. Around 10,000 visitors from over 15 countries traveled there — composers, musicologists, journalists, publishers, programmers, and music lovers. The Next Generation program for students once again enabled hundreds of young people to access the festival. Donaueschingen once again confirmed its status as a global address for avant-garde music.
