The 40th anniversary edition of DOK.fest München in 2025 once again drew over 100,000 visitors to cinemas and the streaming platform. Competitions, award ceremonies, and the DOK.forum characterized the two-week festival.
The 40th anniversary edition of DOK.fest took place in May 2025. The festival marked the end of Daniel Sponsel's long-standing directorship — Adele Kohout subsequently took over the artistic direction for the following editions.
With over 100 documentary films, 15 sections, and a broad streaming offering (DOK.fest @home), the festival reaffirmed its position as Germany's largest documentary festival and an important industry platform.
