Overview
The 2025 edition continued the Upper Bavarian tradition maintained since 1685. Riders in traditional costume, decorated horse-drawn carriages, clergy, folk dance groups, and festival floats proceeded, as every year, in a festive procession from the Dietramszell monastery courtyard to the Leonhardikirche. They circled the church building three times, after which the pastor blessed the animals and their riders — a tradition whose religious significance is all the more profound in an increasingly secular world.
The afternoon and evening featured the secular program: a festival tent with Upper Bavarian brass band music, a fair with carousels and rides, regional beer, and Bavarian delicacies. As every year, traditional costume enthusiasts, families from Dietramszell and surrounding communities, pilgrims from the Alpine foothills, and day-trippers from Munich gathered. Free admission, unpretentious atmosphere, living customs.
