Overview

Der Meistertrunk 2025 was celebrated as every Whitsun weekend in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. For four days, Rothenburg's citizens reenacted the 1631 siege — with Kaisersaal performances, a historical military camp, a craft market on the Grüner Markt, and grand parades through the old town. The festival meadow outside the walls was filled with extras, riders, and camp followers on all days.

In 2025, the Whitsun festival once again drew tens of thousands of visitors to Rothenburg's medieval old town. The performances in the Kaisersaal — performed by Rothenburg citizens — were, as is tradition, sold out. The military camp on the festival meadow, with historical tents, mock cannons, and historically accurate 17th-century uniforms, remained a constant crowd-puller.

The Whitsun parade on Sunday afternoon, with over 800 participants in costumes from the Thirty Years' War, proceeded along the main axis of the old town as always and is one of the most impressive visual experiences in the Franconian festival calendar.
