Darßer Tonnenabschlagen Wieck a.Darß

In 2025, the Darßer Tonnenabschlagen was also celebrated in Wieck a.Darß on the last Sunday in June. The focus was on the traditional equestrian competition, where participants tried from horseback to smash the high-hung herring barrel with wooden clubs and competed for the king titles Boden-, Stäben-, and Tonnenkönig.

Around the competition, the usual folk festival unfolded with folk music, folk dance, amusement rides, and market stalls. The children's Tonnenabschlagen with small, handmade barrels was also a firm part of the program.
