Overview

CSD Freiburg 2025 took place in the summer through the city centre of the southern Baden university city. The parade, rally, and accompanying Pride programme once again attracted several thousand participants and spectators from the Upper Rhine region and beyond — one of the most vibrant Pride gatherings in southern Germany.

Pride as a Constant in the Freiburg Summer

CSD has been a firm fixture in the Freiburg summer calendar for years. Freiburg Pride organisers mobilise several thousand participants — queer communities from Freiburg, the Black Forest, neighbouring Alsace, and northwestern Switzerland. The parade traditionally led through the central Kaiser-Joseph-Straße and ended with a rally in the city centre.

Like many other CSDs in Germany, Freiburg's 2025 event was also a political manifestation — against right-wing attacks, against discrimination, for equality, and for a democratic, cosmopolitan society. The format with parade, speeches, and Pride parties has established itself as a successful model and shapes Freiburg's profile as a progressive university city in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
