Overview

The 2025 Crane Days took place over two consecutive weekends (26–28 September and 3–5 October) in the Lower Oder Valley National Park. Thousands of Grey Cranes rested between Gartz (Oder) and Mescherin in the polder landscape of the floodplain. The program of morning excursions, canoe tours, hikes, lectures, and family activities once again attracted visitors from all over northern Germany and the Polish border region to Germany's only floodplain national park.

The 2025 Crane Days ran from 26–28 September and 3–5 October 2025 — two weekends covering the classic peak of the Grey Crane's autumn migration in the Lower Oder Valley. The venues were, as usual, the Kanonenschuppen Gartz and the Kranichhof Mescherin.

The program followed the established concept: morning excursions to the roosting sites, evening observations of the incoming birds, guided canoe tours on the polder areas, hikes through dry grasslands and floodplain forests, and lectures on crane biology. Families found a dedicated program with puppet theatre and tracking workshops.

In 2025, the weekend was again a German-Polish joint project with partners from the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The observation towers in Stützkow and Mescherin provided the most impressive acoustic and visual moments of the event in the evenings.
