73rd anniversary of the DDR border regime expansion. Commemoration event at the Hötensleben Border Memorial with speeches, wreath-laying, and a contemporary witness forum.

In 2025, the 73rd anniversary of the tightening of the DDR border regime and the beginning of forced resettlements was commemorated at the Hötensleben Border Memorial. Representatives from politics and civil society – including the German Bundestag's Commissioner for Victims of the SED – participated. The silent commemoration was complemented by a contemporary witness forum and a Café of Encounters.

Programme

Wreath-laying ceremony at the border memorial, speeches, encounter café with contemporary witnesses from the villages forcibly resettled in 1952.
