Overview
The opening of the Cologne Carnival session in 2025 gathered around 30,000 revellers on Heumarkt and Alter Markt on November 11. The countdown at 11:11 AM marked the opening of the 2025/26 carnival session with confetti rain. Stars of Cologne Carnival music performed on two stages, and the session's Dreigestirn was officially presented for the first time.
Last year, the Session Opening once again gathered tens of thousands of revellers in Cologne's Old Town. November 11th has been Cologne's biggest city festival for decades and the start of a six-month carnival session.
