Overview

The cityWEIHNACHT 2025 transformed the Magistrale and Karl-Marx-Straße in Frankfurt (Oder) into a radiant Advent city for four weeks. Around four dozen stalls populated the city center, while the small markets at St. Marien, at Wichern, and on the first Advent weekend, the Słubice Christmas market on the Polish side, ran in parallel. Free admission — and a pleasantly quiet Advent experience during the week.

In the winter of 2025, the cityWEIHNACHT Frankfurt (Oder) once again joined the program of Brandenburg's largest Advent cities. On the opening weekend, November 24, the mayor, together with Stadtmarketing, switched on the Advent lights — and the Magistrale, which sometimes appears a bit stern under normal lighting, suddenly shone in warm tones.

Over the four weeks, the program highlights were spread out: brass ensembles from local grammar schools, choirs from St. Marienkirche, a German-Polish Advent evening with musicians from Słubice, the visit of St. Nicholas on December 6, the grand Advent concert before the third Advent. Those who crossed the city bridge found pierogi, bigos, and a smaller but atmospheric sister market on the Polish side. The finale on December 21 was the last hour of light under the fir trees in front of the town hall.
