The "Stadt sucht Bauer" format will launch for the first time in Bielefeld in 2026. In 2025, there was a conceptual preparatory phase between Bielefeld Marketing and the WLV — the premiere itself is planned for June 27, 2026.

Conceptual Preparation 2025

In 2025, there was no Bielefeld Rural Experience Day yet — the premiere is planned for June 27, 2026. Bielefeld Marketing GmbH and the Westphalian-Lippian Agricultural Association (WLV) prepared the format in terms of content and logistics in the previous year. Local media (Westfalen-Blatt, Radio Bielefeld, dasblatt.de) presented the concept in detail before the premiere — as a surprising and unusual program highlight for a major city.

With the premiere in 2026 (straw castle, tractors, milk simulator on Niederwall, Rathausplatz, Jahnplatz), Bielefeld is creating a cultural program point about the urban-rural relationship. If the format is successful, Bielefeld Marketing plans an annual repetition.
