Edition 2025 — CINEMARE
The 9th edition of CINEMARE took place in May 2025 at venues in Kiel — six days of international marine film focusing on marine conservation, climate change, and deep-sea research. The film programme was complemented by the Kieler Ocean Parade, science formats, and outdoor screenings at Segelcamp Kiellinie.
Review: CINEMARE 2025
In 2025, CINEMARE once again transformed Kiel's cinemas, theatres, and research institutions into a six-day stage for marine film. International documentaries, feature films, and short films showcased the diversity of marine themes — from marine conservation and indigenous coastal cultures to deep-sea research.
As in previous years, the festival was accompanied by a diverse special programme: Ocean Parade, Ocean Science Show, Live Ostsee Dive, CINEMARE Landgang, and Ocean Film in Concert with a live orchestra. The close cooperation with GEOMAR and the City of Kiel made the festival more than just cinema evenings — a platform for maritime education and societal discourse.
