Overview

A preparatory CHORALLE edition was held in 2025 as a pilot format for the major event now organized jointly with Schleswig-Holstein in 2026. The Landesmusikrat Hamburg has firmly established the State Choir Competition; the expansion to the neighboring federal state of Schleswig-Holstein gives CHORALLE a Northern German reach from 2026 onwards.

The 2025 event by the Landesmusikrat Hamburg laid the groundwork for the CHORALLE 2026, now organized jointly with Schleswig-Holstein. The Hamburg Landesmusikrat has consistently developed the event into a Northern German platform in recent years.

Hamburg's choir infrastructure is exceptionally dense: Bach-Chor zu St. Michaelis, St.-Petri-Chor, St.-Jacobi-Kantorei, NDR Choir, University Choir of the HfMT, plus hundreds of club, school, and neighborhood choirs. With the expansion to the neighboring federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, CHORALLE bundles this expertise across Northern Germany and creates a true springboard for ambitious ensembles in the federal state of Hamburg and beyond.
