Three days of street food enjoyment on the market square in the Soest district
If you're traveling through the southern Sauerland-Vorland in July, a stop in the market village of Anröchte is worthwhile. The municipality in the Soest district (North Rhine-Westphalia) is known for its green natural stone ("Anröchter Grünstein"), traditional mining, and its vibrant market square culture. From July 17th to 19th, 2026, the central market square will be the venue for the CHEATDAY Streetfood Festival – an event series by the Lippstadt-based organizer Eventwerk, which tours through the Soest, Sauerland, and Lippstadt regions.
The name says it all: A "Cheat Day" is, in English diet vocabulary, the day you buy yourself out of your eating plan and indulge. The festival actively embraces this: no salads, no vegan quinoa bowls (at least not exclusively), but above all, hearty, sweet, and unusual street food creations. Around 12 food trucks from the region and beyond will be present – each with a specialty.
The culinary range includes:
Friday evening starts relaxed with DJ beats. Lounge atmosphere, sundowner bar, first food truck tasting round – ideal for an after-work start.
A live band will play on the stage at the market square on Saturday. Acoustic pop, cover classics, or regional bands – Eventwerk adapts the program to the respective festival city.
Sunday is all about the family. Dedicated children's area with XXL building blocks, play equipment, and possibly a bouncy castle. The food trucks remain open, and the atmosphere becomes more family-friendly.
Anröchte has around 10,000 inhabitants and belongs to the Soest district – a region with a rich farming and stonemasonry tradition. The market square is the center of the town; weekly markets and events shape the year. With the CHEATDAY festival, Anröchte once again positions itself as an attractive event city between Lippstadt, Werl, and the northern Sauerland.
Behind the festival series is Eventwerk Lippstadt, which operates several CHEATDAY locations in NRW annually – including in Lippstadt, Selm, Haltern am See, and Löhne. The concept is standardized: around 12 food trucks, a three-day program with DJ/live band/family day, freshly tapped beer, weather-protected seating areas, and free admission.
The festival kicks off on Friday evening with relaxed DJ beats. After-work start with a sundowner bar and the first food truck tour.
Live music on the stage at the market square, likely from the regional pop/cover scene. Eventwerk Lippstadt curates the band selection for each festival city.
A dedicated children's area with XXL building blocks, games, and possibly a bouncy castle. Food trucks remain open all day.
The final list of approx. 12 participating food trucks will be published shortly before the festival on eventwerk-lippstadt.de and the social media channels.
Free admission. Food truck dishes typically €6-12. Drinks €3-5.
By car: A44 exit Soest-Süd or Erwitte/Anröchte, then follow signs to Anröchte. By train: Lippstadt station, then bus 528 towards Anröchte. Parking available around the market square.
