Overview

The 2025 summer festival took place on Friday, July 18th, from 4 PM to 7 PM on the meadow between Schöneicher and Freienwalder Straße in Alt-Hohenschönhausen. Live music featuring Pinellis 90° and a saxophone ensemble, free barbecue food, a flea market with a cake-instead-of-money stall fee, and a children's programme characterised the three-hour afternoon — all fully accessible.

Celebrating Diversity 2025 — Three Hours of Neighbourhood

On the afternoon of Friday, July 18th, 2025, the community centre of Cooperative Mensch eG opened its summer festival on the neighbourhood meadow between Schöneicher and Freienwalder Straße in Alt-Hohenschönhausen. For three hours, from 4 PM to 7 PM, neighbours of all generations, residents of the Cooperative Mensch housing projects, and external visitors gathered for an inclusive neighbourhood festival. On stage, Pinellis 90° and a saxophone ensemble performed; sausages and vegetarian alternatives sizzled on the grill, free for everyone. The parallel flea market waived the usual stall fee — vendors brought a homemade cake or muffins instead, a charming idea that enriched the festival's cake table.

The entire festival site was, as always, fully wheelchair-accessible, with accessible sanitary facilities and a quiet tent with mats and cushions for anyone needing a break. Children could enjoy the bouncy castle, get their faces painted, or participate in the games. Stadtbewegung e.V. was present with a movement activity, and the Lichtenberg District Office recognised the festival as one of the district's exemplary inclusive neighbourhood formats.
