Overview
The Burgweihnacht Burghausen 2025 ran over the three Advent weekends until mid-December. As usual, it began with 'Advent in den Grüben' on the 1st and 2nd Advent weekends in the historic old town; the actual Burgweihnacht took place on the 3rd Advent weekend on the castle's parade ground. Admission to the old town was free; castle €5.
The 2025 edition followed the established concept of Burghausen's Advent events — three Advent weekends between the old town and the castle. The craft-oriented stalls, the Advent concerts in the Elisabeth Chapel, and the shadow puppet theatre for children were part of the regular program.
The castle setting, Europe's longest castle complex, shapes the event like no other — especially on the 3rd Advent weekend, when the stalls on the parade ground are set up high above the Salzach in the winter light.
