Overview

The 49th season of the Burghofspiele Falkenstein in 2025 featured a summer production in the inner courtyard of Falkenstein Castle. The open-air theatre in the Vorderer Bayerischer Wald region of Oberpfalz reaffirmed its role as one of the most traditional castle theatres in the region and laid the groundwork for the 50th anniversary season in 2026.

The 2025 edition of the Burghofspiele Falkenstein once again confirmed the high standing of this open-air theatre in the Oberpfalz region. As since 1976, a summer theatre production was staged in the inner courtyard of Falkenstein Castle – supported by the market town of Falkenstein and a dedicated ensemble.

The 49th season is considered a transition to the 50th anniversary in 2026, which will be celebrated with the Wilde adaptation "The Canterville Ghost" directed by Melody Bayer. The Burghofspiele Falkenstein are thus among the longest-running castle festivals in Bavaria and have a lasting impact on the cultural identity of the Vorderer Bayerischer Wald.
